Global Air Supplies Christmas Charity Donation

Global Air Supplies Christmas Charity donation

After a stellar year we decided to go bigger and better with our Global Air Supplies Christmas Charity donation.

This festive season we decided to split £10,000 between three amazing, local charities that are fully deserving of receiving some Christmas cheer after what has been such a challenging twelve months – with each of them receiving £3,333,33.

The three lucky charities were Barnsley Food Bank, Tiny Hands Baby Bank in South Elmsall and Sheffield Secret Santa. We went to meet them to deliver their cheques and spread some festive joy.

First up, we travelled to Barnsley Food Bank who are based in Wombwell, to meet Suzanne and her team of volunteers who were all hands on deck, preparing food parcels for the Barnsley community that are most in need. They have been preparing 100 parcels a week for the most unfortunate in society, around 40 more on average than this time last year, partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation was welcome news and Suzanne beamed: “Thank you ever so much, we are so grateful, this money will really help to feed people in crisis across Barnsley and we are delighted to receive it.”

Next, we re-visited Jane Robinson at Tiny Hands Baby Bank, who we also donated to last year. Tiny Hands collect baby clothes, equipment and other baby essentials that are preloved and donate them to families in need. Occasionally, they do need brand new items, like mattresses and Jane said: “This wonderful donation will buy mattresses to help babies and families across the region.”

They have put together over 130 parcels this Christmas, compared to 102 last year.

She added: “Thank you yet again to G.A.S for your continued support.”

Last but certainly not least was Sheffield Secret Santa, a newly-formed charity that has set out with the aim of helping children across the Sheffield region this Christmas, ensuring the no child wakes up on Christmas Day without presents to unwrap.

We met Laura and the team who had been frantically wrapping goodies for weeks alongside their usual jobs. She explained: “This is the biggest donation we have ever had, thank you so much to Global Air Supplies.”

She continued: “This money will help us to support an extra 600 families next Christmas, it’s absolutely unbelievable.”

In what has been such a testing year, it has been an incredible experience to be able to give back to the local community and we can’t wait to see what these wonderful causes do with the donations.

Merry Christmas from all at Global Air Supplies.
