Why should you use a fan controller?

There are several benefits to using a controller in your grow room. Choosing the right controller, will ensure that you can fine tune your environment to get the most out of your grow. We will explore the 3 key benefits to using a controller, to help you decide which is best for you.

Maintain Room Temperature

The temperature in your grow room plays a vital role in the growth and development of your plants: too hot, and your plants will transpire too much and potentially take up too much nutrient; too cold and your plants won’t be able to absorb the nutrients they need at the rate required for them to grow. Photosynthesis can only occur within a certain temperature range too, so if your grow room is outside of that range, your plants will struggle to grow at all.

Fans are a great way to maintain the temperature in your grow room, an exhaust (outtake) fan can help to reduce the heat in your environment. Global Air Supplies offers a range of fans which can be used as both intake and outtake fans, across both AC and EC technologies (learn the difference here):

AC Fans

A controller is the perfect way to maintain the temperature in your environment, we offer a range of controllers, each with different benefits, including dual control of intake and outtake fans along with other grow room equipment such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heaters, and timers.

Create Negative Pressure

Negative air pressure simply means that the air pressure inside the grow room is lower than the pressure outside of it. Negative pressure means that odours cannot escape from the grow room.

You can create negative pressure by using an exhaust fan to extract the air within your room, at a faster rate than air is being added to your grow room (either naturally, or with an intake fan).

Global Air Supplies offer several fan controllers which can control both intake and outtake fans at the same time:

Maintain Humidity in your Grow Room

Humidity is extremely important in your grow room environment, as it directly affects your plant’s ability to transpire and therefore influences the yield and overall quality of your grow. You can add a humidifier or de-humidifier to your grow room to fine tune the humidity. For more information on controlling Humidity and VPD in your grow room, read this guide.

We offer a range of controllers with built in humidity control:

Choosing the Right Controller

Now you understand the benefits of using a controller, how do you choose the right one for you?

The type of controller you need, depends heavily on the type of fan you are using.
EC fans will need an EC Controller and AC Fans will need an AC Controller, we also have 2 controllers which are able to control both AC & EC Fans – great if you are using a combination of both technologies.
