At Global Air Supplies, growing is at the heart of everything we do. From supplying professional hydroponics equipment to hands-on cultivation projects, our focus is always on creating the best possible environment for plants to thrive.
But for us, it is not just about plants. It is also about supporting the local community here in Rotherham.
As part of an upcoming project, the team at G.A.S HQ in Rotherham began cultivating Roma and cherry tomato plants. Our propagation efforts produced a surplus of 196 tomato plants, all well-established and ready for their next stage of growth.
Rather than letting those plants go to waste, we looked for a way to give back locally. As a Rotherham-based business, it made sense to support a project within our own community. We reached out to Winthrop Gardens, a well-known therapeutic garden in Rotherham, to see if they could make use of the plants.
Winthrop Gardens first opened in 2005 as a sensory and therapeutic garden, designed to support wellbeing and provide a peaceful outdoor space for the community. Since 2016, it has been managed by Wickersley Parish Council, continuing to serve local people through its accessible and inclusive environment.
Winthrop Gardens will be selling the tomato plant and all profits from the sales will be reinvested back into the gardens. This helps fund ongoing maintenance, improvements, and future community projects.
Our Managing Director, Ian Collins, delivered the plants in person and spent time touring the gardens. “It was great to visit Winthrop Gardens and see the work they’re doing for the local community. The gardens are a brilliant space, and it’s good to know the plants we’ve grown will help support something that genuinely benefits people in Rotherham.”
At Global Air Supplies, we are proud to be part of the wider horticultural and local community. Supporting initiatives like Winthrop Gardens allows us to extend our impact beyond products and into real-world outcomes.
